ABOUT US The Markowen stud was established in the late 1980s with female purchases from the Allendale and Heatherdale studs. Small in quantity, but big in quality was the studs policy, which has continued to this day even though our stud has grown in numbers. This philosophy has paid dividends with much continued success at the Adelaide Royal Show and the Naracoorte Poll Hereford Bull Show and Sale. At our family farming operation, based in Bordertown in the Upper South East of South Australia, we aim to breed commercially focused, consistent, quality cattle with emphasis placed on structure, fertility, temperament, growth, muscle and milk, with excellent performance figures and overall breed quality. To achieve this we are continually introducing new genetics using breed leading A.I. Sires. The herd is Breedplan recorded for growth, maternal, and carcase traits. Both male and female progeny are scanned for eye muscle area, fat, and intramuscular fat. Our BJD status is MN2.
